Hey fellow brothers,
Brandon Pettey here, brotherhood chair, from Theta Pi at UT Tyler. Although I have not served as Push Chair, push is close to my heart due to the fact that I have spina bifida and I'm in a wheelchair, so I've done what I can to help. More information on spina bifida can be found at www.sbaa.org
Push events don't always have to be fundraisers. It never hurts to just pass on information. For instance, as a disabled person at a small school I was asked to be a keynote speaker for disability awareness day put on by the school Disability Support Services. The first attempt got a mild showing. However, the next time we did it I had more time to prepare. We booked our university center and myself and our Push Chair, Kery Elliot spoke. I shared information about my disability and we shared information about push. We showed the push video. We invited the student body and especially asked for support from our fellow greeks and people showed up. I even called the local news and pi kapp and the event got mentioned. Now our chapter is running the event and gets publicity from Disability Services. So for push its not always about money, pass on the knowledge pi kapps. Its good for Pi Kapp publicity and good for Push America.
Good Luck
